Duplication Feature
The duplication feature allows you to quickly create copies of existing budget items, making it easy to create similar items without having to manually re-enter all the information.
Using Duplication
Duplicating Budget Items
- In your budget, navigate to the budget item(s) you want to duplicate.
- Click on the action button (3-dot menu) located to the right of the budget item.
- Select Duplicate from the context menu.
- A confirmation message will appear indicating the operation was successful.
- Here's an example of the results:
Information Preserved During Duplication
When duplicating, the following elements are automatically copied:
- Prefixes and identification codes
- Description (with automatic addition of "Copy" for parent items)
- Costs: quantities and unit prices
- Attributes: tax codes, funding sources, accounting accounts
Parent and Child Elements
- When you duplicate a parent item, all its child items are also duplicated with their respective information
- The budget hierarchy is maintained in the copy
- The relationships between parent and child items are preserved
Identifying Duplicated Items
- Duplicated items are clearly identified by adding "Copy" to the end of the description
- This notation is only added at the main level (parent items) to avoid redundancy
Example: "Professional Services" becomes "Professional Services (Copy)"
⚠️ Warning: Cash flows associated with the original budget items are NOT duplicated. You will need to create new cash flows for the duplicated items if necessary.
