In the construction industry, shop drawings are “a technical document in which are found drawings, specifications and other data necessary to carry out the intent of the contract documents for a specific element of a project.”

Typically, the supplier - be it a contractor or manufacturer - submits their shop drawings to a construction owner before work begins. This can be at any one stage or another in the lifetime of a project. Shop drawings fulfill one of two functions:
- They supplement the design indicated in the plans and specifications supplied by the construction owner, or provide additional information.
- They represent the supplier's understanding of what the construction owner requires, or the method the supplier intends to use.

Please note that the Shop Drawing feature is only available to customers subscribing to the Advanced and Enterprise plans on the Aidi platform.
Adding a Shop Drawing
- From the Aidi menu, click on Supervision ⇾ Shop drawings to open the Shop Drawings List page.
- Click on the Create button in the top right-hand corner to open the new drawing form.

Create a new shop drawing as follows:
- Add general information (mandatory fields are marked with "*")
- Add a description
- Import associated files or URL links
- Fill in custom fields in the Info section, as required
- Notify the desired contact (they will receive an alert by e-mail and in the Aidi notification center).
✏️Note: Only contacts of the project can be selected for notification.
Modify a Shop Drawing
To modify a shop drawing, proceed as follows:
- Click on the options icon of the design you wish to modify. The options menu opens.
- Click on the Modify link to open the shop drawing form.
💡Tips
- To change only the status of a shop drawing, drag and drop it from one column to another.
- You can follow the history of modifications and comments using the Log button in the top right-hand corner of the shop drawing creation mode.

Configuration settings
If you are a user with "Admin" permissions, you can customize the status of this module.
- Go to Admin → Shop drawing status
- Add, modify or delete statuses.
✏️Note: If a status is linked to one or more shop drawings, you will no longer be able to delete it. You must first assign them to another status.
Required user permissions
To change user permissions: Go to Admin > Access > Shop drawing
- To view deliverables: "Read" privilege must be selected
- To create a deliverable: the "Write" privilege must be selected
- To delete a deliverable: the "Delete" privilege must be selected.
If you are a user with "Admin" permissions, by default you have all the above accesses and visibility over all deliverables.
Visibility of workshop drawings
Persons identified as contacts on the project can view or modify shop drawings according to their user role.
Users associated with the same administrative unit as the project, but who are not project contacts, can view shop drawings, but do not have permission to modify them.
To view attached documents, click on the paperclip. Then click on the file name to open it.
